“19Now we have this hope as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul —it cannot slip and it cannot break down under whoever steps out upon it–a hope that reaches farther and enters into the very certainty of the Presence of God within the veil, 20Where Jesus has entered in for us in advance, a Forerunner having become a High Priest forever…”
Hebrews 6:19-20 (Amplified Version)
Jesus is our Hope- He is our soul’s anchor- He is our sure and steadfast hope that cannot slip and cannot break down. He is our hope that reaches farther. Farther past the pain, farther past the questions, farther past death. He has gone before us into the presence of God and stands as our representative before God, carrying our burdens, sorrows and broken hearts to the healing throne of Grace. He not only goes there for us, He invites us to join Him there.
He is our High Priest, our Intercessor, our Mediator, our Covering, our Friend.
In Him we have HOPE.
In Him our souls can find a strong and unmovable anchor.
He is there before God—He is there on our behalf—He is here with us—We are one with Him– therefore — we can trust that we are seen, loved, and comforted by the Father Himself.
When sorrows swell, when grief swallows us, when death shocks us, He is our anchor. Nothing else and no one else can calm the pain, the confusion, and the questions.
Knowing Him in our darkness gives us the strength to continue on. Knowing Him gives us a place to stand, even when the ground around us seems to crumble. Knowing Him and asking Him to hold us up and anchor us down in the most tender of times, makes life worth living, and even the unexpected death of a friend more bearable.
There are so many things we’ll never know. Answers to the deepest questions of the heart. May we rest in this one thing we can know– Our God is loving, and our God is strong. He is strong enough to be our anchor- strong enough for us to hold on to, and when we feel too weak to hold on, He is strong enough to be a fortress where we can find shelter during life’s storms.
In Him is light and there is no darkness at all. When we are surrounded by life’s darkness, let us run into His light to find the comfort and rest that our weary souls need.
If you are in sorrow today, may the God of all comfort meet you in your pain and wrap His healing arms around you. If you are in a moment of stillness and calm, may the God of all peace meet you and bless you with more joy.
May we all receive the unchanging love and affection of God in every season, in every storm, in every circumstance.
