As I took time this morning to sit with Jesus and to get filled up with Him, I thought of you.
Nearly every morning as I sit with Him, my heart is drawn to pray for you. He has you on my mind constantly! I wonder how you are doing- what He teaching you. How I can be a friend to you and how we can walk well in this world for His name’s sake.
I think of you so often, it feels like we should be meeting sometime soon for coffee. But instead of a cup of coffee and in-person talk time, I wanted to at least share this prayer (and a song below) with you.
I pray for you all today,
that your hearts would yearn with a tangible thirst for Jesus,
that in the busy rush of your morning, He would draw your hearts aside for a few quiet moments. And that He would fill you with Himself.
Because our world is dry and thirsty.
But He is the cup that never runs dry.
His presence is what it’s all about- His presence.
Getting up in the morning, before the wild rush to be filled with Jesus is not about “duty” that brings guilt or a box to be checked, but about experiencing His presence.
It’s about coming to the place of living water to drink deeply of what is true.
Spending time with Jesus is about drinking deeply of the ONLY THING THAT FILLS US.
And, friends, no matter what the world tells us, Jesus is what satisfies our thirsty souls.
It’s Him alive in us, and around us. Jesus at work in the world, and us attuned to His love, His activity, His compassion, His power.
It’s us walking in step with His heartbeat.
So that as the dawn breaks,
and the kids wake
and the buses wait,
and the traffic makes us late,
IN IT ALL
we sense HIS POWER breaking forth from within our hearts,
reaching into our day
and impacting the hearts of the people
and circumstances we will meet.
Because His presence in us changes things.
Let us orient around His presence today. Taking time to sit with Him. To open our hearts to the Cup that NEVER RUNS DRY. That we may be filled to overflowing. Overflowing His Spirit into our dry and thirsty land.
“Oh God, you are my God. Early will I seek You. My soul thirsts for You. My flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land, where there is no water. So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory. Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You…my soul shall be satisfied.” (Psalm 63:1-3,5)
As we lift up His name and our hearts adore Him, His joy filling us will be contagious, and His power coming forth from our lives will draw men to His name.

“Your presence is all I need, it’s all I want, it’s all I seek, and without it, there’s no meaning.
Your presence is the air I breathe, the song I sing, and the love I need, and without it, I’m not living.
So, I will exalt you Lord.
There is no one like you God.
I will exalt you Lord.
No other name be lifted high.”
